The Idle Air Control valve is an electronic device used by the engine control module (ECM) to control engine idle speed. The control valve will be mounted in the throttle body on the engine and allows air to bypass the throttle plate during a closed throttle condition. The valve is also used on many applications to control vehicle speed when the vehicle cruise control is engaged, the ECM will allow air to bypass the throttle plate while monitoring vehicle speed and other signal inputs.
