Certain vehicle applications are designed to operate with various levels of alcohol content in the fuel system. Most common today are 10-15% alcohol mix with common gasoline while some operating systems allow up to 85% alcohol content. The on-board engine computer uses this sensor to detect the alcohol content and make needed adjustments to the operating system.
