I would have preferred the model with the metal impeller; however, since the part was fairly easy to install and now works perfectly, I made the right choice to go with the poly impeller. My 328i is 18 years old with 160k mi. Tip: use the BMW tool to remove the fan.

Great product and fit for price.You'll also need 1 1/4in. open end wrench to remove fan clutch prior to removing water pump.

Do not buy! Bad impeller.
Lasted only 10 months. The plastic impeller fell to pieces. Advance Auto should remove this item from their shelves. Recommend to only replace with an aluminium impeller.

BMW originally built pumps with plastic impellers, but most mechanics went back to metal due to reliability problems.

Fits perfect, easy job. IMHO go with this OEM type composite impeller, the proximity to the #1 cyl wall would not stand up to a failed cast steel impeller bouncing around in the cavity. YouTube how to purge the air out of the system before driving.
