My 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid would not go into "Ready" mode and would not start with "check hybrid battery system" dash warning. It is important to note, for 6 months, I was getting the dreaded P0A80 code (Hybrid battery needs replaced) intermittently but was able to easily clear it with my OBD scan tool. However, this time I got a new P308A code and could NOT clear it. Live data on the scan tool revealed 1/2 (ONLY all the odd numbered cells)had 0 volts. I removed the battery and using a multimeter found all 34 cells had 7. 79 volts which is acceptable. I also found the plug in to this sensor module and the thin wired sensor monitoring harness black and burnt. Also, all 68 buses (34 cells with positive and negative buses) showed mild copper corrosion so I just went ahead and replaced both orange harnesses that included a new sensor monitoring harness that plugs into this module for an additional $70. Problem fixed car runs great and no more intermittent P0A80 codes. I just wonder how many people were told their entire battery needed replaced at a minimum of $3500 when all they really needed was this sensor module and a new harness for $350 and lifetime warranty!
