Easy to install
After having a sticking valve in the power steering rack
I flushed it with Sea Foam Trans/Hyd system cleaner.
The cleaner worked and I plan on keeping it that way so the experts advised installing a filter. I purchased the
Cardone, Magnapure filter which was easy to install and
seems to be a durable unit. The cost was right also.

Nice product once I got it installed and sealed!
When I went to install the unit, Right out of the package, I noticed that the snap ring wasn't installed properly. Now, mind you, this is the only part that could be installed incorrectly/ wrong. So, I seated the internal snap ring. I put the unit in and started the vehicle. I heard a "pop" seconds after starting it. I shut the engine off and looked under the car. Power steering fluid all over the place. The unit had come apart. So, I took the filer back off, stretched the snap ring out a little bit and put it back together. Installed it again and it works fine - no leaks. It's a shame that their quality control department couldn't catch the problem!!! Anyway, it could have been a lot worse! It is a nice unit and would buy another one!

Can't determine long term benefit. I suspect removal will be a challenge, likely need to cut hose's off and reinstall with new. But, if it keeps steering rack from failing this will be simple maintenance item.

Poor quality, after 20 miles of driving filter C-clip pulled apart draining all power steering fluid from system.... Advanced Auto Part would not refund for return of power steering filter and only exchange for another filter, in my opinion this filter is junk!!!!

I attempted to install this filter three times, each time the flimsy circlip popped out and the filter fell apart...if this filter failed while on the highway, I could burn up my PS pump...the filter is basically a screen and a tubular magnet with no bypass if clogging occurs...ultimately, I replaced my PS pump under warranty and returned this filter for a refund...with newer pump, fluid contamination has greatly been reduced.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
