After 4 year without a tailgate handle. I finaly broke down and buy a new tailgate handle. Fir my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 6.0 liter V8 Ext. Cab. Had some problems getting old tailgate handle off / removal. Maybe easier if I had metric sockets over the SAE sockets. Used 1/2 6 point 3/8 drive. Getting the new tailgate handle instal was easy. My wife was abkle to go food shopping in the store . When I stayed out and removal old tailgate handle and install new tailgate handle in less then 30 minutes.

Worked good and the fit was good. Feels cheap. Check the rod attachment clips before you buy, mine were poorly formed blobs of plastic.
