ACI Windshield Washer Pump

I purchased this washer pump for my 1993 F-150. I had been pilfering pumps from salvage yards but pickings are slim based on the vehicle age. The new pump I purchased from Advance was identical to the OEM version. There were no fitment or installation issues. It's a very easy fix, too. One thing to remember is the washer pump lines are at the bottom of the reservoir. You should check if the pump it working prior to any part removal to save you time and money. The reason I say this is I've had the line fall off, which drains the reservoir and makes one think the pump is bad. Just place your key in accessory mode, open the hood and activate the pump. You should hear it whirring, or at least feel the vibration in the reservoir. If it does need to be replaced, remove the bolt that holds a plastic tang of the reservoir. Lift the reservoir up and to the left to remove the other tangs from their mount area. You may have to remove the lines to gain access, but I've always been able to maneuver the reservoir to gain access to the pump. There are two plastic tabs, one each at the top and bottom, that hold the electrical connector to the pump. Once that's removed, you'll see a washer with gear teeth that is pressed into the hole. This washer holds the pump in place. Use a screwdriver or needle nose pliers to remove that washer. It doesn't matter if it's deformed, as the new pump came with a new washer. Remove the pump, install your new one and press the new washer into place. I use a screw driver to install the washer and just work my way around its circumference. It may take a few times around it, but that insures a solid fit is maintained. Plus in the connector, reconnect any lines you removed and install the reservoir.
