Perfect fit in 1994 C1500 5.7L
I just installed so have no road time yet, but my engine is running like a top with this new cap (and separately purchased new ACDelco rotor). The engine had been running very rough and misfiring terribly, causing the truck to lurch so much going down the road I was afraid I might even have a transmission issue. I think now it was just the very corroded contacts on the old cap and the missing button on the old rotor. If your engine has a rough idle, cutouts, and misfires, this cap (and separate rotor - this is not a kit) might be all you need. This cap attaches with a 7/32" socket, or a Phillips head screwdriver. When bolting down your new cap, make sure the cap fits completely OVER the flat metal disc of the distributor's base. I initially had trouble bolting down the cap as the bolts weren't making contact with the threaded holes in the base. It took me a minute to realize I wasn't pushing the cap down firmly enough to slide down over the disc of the base. This cap might cost a little extra, but I believe ACDelco is worth it on such a critical component. It made a world of difference for me, and I fully expect to see my mileage increase the engine is running so smoothly now. Highly recommended.

I always take off my old distributor cap with wires intact, and label the old wires. I wrap a strip of masking tape around the new cap just below the wire towers and mark them to show which cylinder they fire. I start with the longest new wires (why put the old ones back?) at #1 and #2, and work thru the wires by length ending with #7 and #8. Takes a bit more time maybe, but it's always been quicker in the long run if you got distracted and didn't label them and the engine won't start!
