Ordered online, delivered to home with chewed up output shaft threads, returned to store an hour away in exchange for one in their inventory that had a stripped out mounting lug discovered on installation final torque...third gearbox ordered arrived 5 days later with mushroomed input shaft, 4th gearbox arrived 10 days later with input shaft splines that needed to be cleaned up with triangular file...installed and operating as expected, which helped solve a random ABS warning light associated with the hydroboost system...not happy that I wasted 10 hours with the first 3 gearboxes but that's the way it goes when working on a 2001 Ram 2500

First one came with stripped threads but was able to trade it for a better one. Much tighter steering now, I had to re-align my tires to straighten out the steering wheel.

Easy to install, not as expensive as I thought it would have been. I should have replaced it years ago, and I finally did it because mine was so bad that it started leaking fluid from the pitman are shaft seal. Very noticeable difference in the way the truck feels now. I installed it over a year ago and it is still nice and tight like a new truck. Now if only there was a real solution to the track bar going bad every 6 months, that would be a huge help.

Took off my OEM box that had 200K plus on it due to free travel was getting excessive. Installed it. Had a little more free play than I wanted but drove it for a while. It got to where it had a 1/4 turn free travel. Took it back and got another. It had as much free travel as the first replacement. Now its been on there for less than a year the free travel is very excessive again from the Pitman shaft bushing. Took it off and plan on getting a refund this time around. I already bought a Redhead brand replacement and installed it that has all bearings and no bushings. Warrantied to have no free travel. Cost a about $175 more but well worth it. Got tired of changing out junk and buying more power steering oil. They cover the box lifetime but not my time to keep replacing it and the oil which is $5 a quart now. I will be going to my local Advance store Monday for a refund including $130 for my core they took unless they can produce one.

Going on the 2nd one in less than a year. To much free play. Over 2 inches) No amount of adjustment on the box will correct it. After adjusting it the wheel will feel tighter but that's all it is is tighter the free play is still there and if you notice the wheel will not return completely to center. The adjustment is now in to far but yet the free play is still there. When the wheel is rocked the play is in the pitman shaft bushing. A new bushing that should have been installed when the box was remanufactured would have eliminated that free travel but since both the boxes had the same issue I'm going with a new GM box this time. I will expect Advance to credit me on this box and apply it to the cost of a new box.

This box looked and performed worse than my original with 262k miles. It was rusted out of the box, steering was dangerously sloppy, and it failed after 15 miles. Save yourself the time and buy a redhead or AGR.

Difficulty installing was about moderate. Would have been a lot less cumbersome had I had all the correct tools

Box fit was ok. Didn't like the bolt hole adapters. New bolts were smaller and lower grade then factory.

This one I bought was not an exact match. The power steering hoses sit up higher due to some adapter. I had to bend the return line to make it lower to fit. Other than that ok. But I expected the same exact one as my original.

I ordered this steering gear for my 99 Ram 2500. When it got here I noticed the input shaft was painted! This is a tight fit and paint will not allow the intermediate shaft to slide on the splines. I took some brake fluid and a wire brush and cleaned it up. The splines on the input shaft were worn down like it had been slipping. This makes the steering gear worthless. The rebuilder knew this and that is why he painted it to try and hide it. There is no way any rebuilder with more than half a brain and an ounce of integrity would let this ship Completely disappointed. I would give it zero stars if I could.
