My 2001 Century started having hard shifts at around 135k miles. I dropped the pan, replaced the filter, and refilled with about 7 quarts of Valvoline MaxLife ATF. I also added in 11 oz of BG ATC (automatic transmission conditioner). What a difference! My car now shifts smoothly and solidly. Maybe I didn't even need the BG ATC? All I know is it now runs like when it was new!

The ATF is being used in a 2004 TB 4.2 L engine with the 4L60 transmission. This SUV requires DEXRON III and manufacturer has updated and aproved the DEXRON VI. This is a high mileage (170k) transmission that I rebuilt at 85K with new reinforced SHELL, Bendix clutches, high volume pump and all new solenoids. ATF total capacity is 11.4 quarts including 1 quart (64 oz) of LUCAS ATF additive on every scheduled change at 50k miles, filter and gasket included. Works fine with smooth shift at all temperatures, with or w/o 4x4, specially when towing my boat trailer.

I use this on a 4x4 off-road. It's always a tough trade-off between the greaseable and non-greasable u-joints. The non-greaseable is stronger. There no hollow channel for the grease., but you can dry out the u-joints foe the front drive shaft, unless you remember to run you 4x4 in 4wd every week to keep the grease moving. I went with greaseable in front and non-greaseable in back. Hope it works.

I made 3 trips to the local store to finally get the correct pinion seal. The seal itself is not just a 5, but a 10. But, getting the correct replacement seal for: a Chevy, 10 bolt, 8.5in RG, with a 30 spline axle differential was very difficult to identify in the Advance Auto parts system. The store sells the Dorman yoke and seal assembly, however, they do not publish the correct replacement seal part number. I finally got the correct one and it works great. NOTE, this seal does not work on a 28 spline axle rear end.

The casting was beautiful in its natural finish. It had a bright appearance and the surface roughness was good for a sand casting. The machine finish was not the finest that I have ever seen, but appropriate for this parts function. I love the fact that the part was made in the United States of America, but I did not like the sticker that sits on a cast pad. I would perfer a cast raised statement that it was made in the USA. I have clear coated the part in high temperature paint, and hope that it will continue its beautiful apperance in use.

Fixed my Ford F-150 4.2. Fit well and installation tool seated the sleeve exactly where it needed to be. Super easy to use and covered the grooved shaft perfectly. Too soon to tell if the sleeve and new seal fixed my oil leak.
