In. engines being built, the 250 and 292 are showing up more and more. This distributor fits them all, including the 230. Like all MSD Pro-Billet distributor, this housing is crafted from billet aluminum and MSD bolts in a non-magnetic pickup to fire the mandatory ignition control. There’s a vacuum advance to assist with economy and the adjustable mechanical advance makes it easy to tune in a specific curve. Marine environments place rigorous demands on every component of the ignition system. The combination of water spray, salt exposure, full throttle acceleration and harsh vibrations all take their toll. The MSD Pro-Billet distributor is the strongest and most accurate distributor you can put in your boat. The housing is CNC-machined from a billet of 6061-T6 aluminum creating a housing with no porosity. Each distributor uses MSD’s race-proven magnetic pickup to trigger the ignition control. Mounted just above the pickup is a mechanical advance assembly that is easy to adjust so you can dial-in an ignition curve to match your boat’s application (except PN 8366). For marine use, the distributor cap is bolted to the aluminum base. There are two flame arrestor holes with brass screens machined into the base of the distributor to prevent ignition of gas fumes that may build up in the engine compartment. A special Weathertight connector is supplied. Underwriter’s laboratory approved.

If you have a slightly taller block or have decked the heads, the distance between the distributor mounting pad and the cam gear-oil pump drive may be different. MSD offers these distributor with an adjustable slip collar with 1.5 In. of adjustment so you can be sure the distributor is installed correctly. The distributor shares the same?features of the standard Pro-Billet Chevrolet model including a ball bearing guide, long sintered lower bushing and an oil seal. To trigger the MSD Ignition a maintenance-free magnetic pick-up is secured in the billet base of the distributor. Just above this pick-up assembly is an adjustable mechanical advance assembly.
