I believe the construction and overall quality of the K&N fuel filter is much better than one that can be purchased at a local auto parts store

Have this on my British car that sits in my garage. After two years just sitting I noticed the filter element came loose from the housing and was just floating freely in the gasoline. The result is that the sediment would just go around the filter. It looks like the filter element was glued with hot-melt and just popped loose. Also there in no name brand on this filter. Buy something that will last without an undetectable failure mode.

My 1990 Dodge W150 truck would start and shut off. IMPORTANT: Filter has 5/16 inch ports in and out! IN is marked. Replaced old filter. Started 2nd turn of the key. Quality rating is BEST in Advance system, I would definitely use it again. I intend to keep a spare in the glove compartment.

I experienced the same installing problem as the previous reviewers. The fuel filter is prevented by rotating by the hex nut on the filter engaging in the hex cutout on the top of the bracket and prevented from dropping down by the clamping action of the bracket clamp held by a small screw which must be loosened in order to spread the bracket apart to enable sliding the old filter down and out from the bottom for removal. The original filter is uniform in diameter but this filter has a flange at the top that makes it difficult to insert into the bracket from the bottom without fully removing the small screw and spreading the bracket apart with a large screwdriver or pry bar. The bracket then must be squeezed together again to be able to reinstall the small screw to close the bracket and secure the filter in place. 1991 S-10 Pickup 2.8L.

Previous reviewer was correct. I was replacing a previous purolator fuel filter. New one has flange that makes it difficult when you insert from bottom of bracket. You can spread the bracket far apart to make it fit, but then have to force the bracket back together with vise grips to get the screw in. However, after all this the fuel line would not screw in. Will be returning to store. This was for a 86 S-10 blazer 2.8L.

Put this in a 88 Chevy S10 Blazer 2.8 and had a real hard time putting it in the mount on the engine. It has a lip at the top that the old fram did not. next time I will make sure there is no lip. I wasted alot of time and had to do substantially more work then I had to.
