Designed specifically for the 2016-2017 BMW M2 (F87) L6-3.0L (t) with the N55 engine, this BladeRunner intercooler utilizes a 5″ bar and plate core design. This design outflows the factory tube and fin core design, while the 3/16″ TIG-Welded end tanks offer superior strength and durability. In testing, this intercooler showed flow gains up to 15% and lowers the intake air temperatures. End Tanks: The unique BladeRunner end tanks are constructed out of 3/16″ thick aluminum plates and include two 1/8″ NPT ports for sensors or water-methanol injection. 5″ Bar and Plate Core Design: The use of the bar and plate core design allows for greater airflow and increased heat dissipation over the much smaller tube and fin design used by the factory. Tig Welded: 100% TIG-Welded inside and out by a certified craftsmen for strength and durability. TIG-Welding provides the strongest welds while reducing stress cracks. Pressure Tested: e BladeRunner Intercooler is test pressure rated at 200psi. Perfect Fit: Utilizes the factory mounting locations for a hassle-free installation. There are two forms of charge air cooling: direct cooling with the ambient air, or indirect cooling via the coolant to the ambient air. Indirect charge air cooling offers benefits in terms of package size and dynamic response and will play an increasingly important role in the future. This involves placing the charge air cooler very close to the engine rather than in the front end of the vehicle. The additional low-temperature radiator needed for indirect charge air cooling is an integral part of the cooling module. Due to the smaller installation depth of the low-temperature radiator compared to a conventional charge air cooler, more space is available in the front end, which can then be used for various measures such as pedestrian protection. The location close to the engine permits the use of shorter charge air lines, cutting the pressure loss by around 50%.
