The end gap can be a straight cut, angled cut or gas tight type for improved sealing. Radial pressure distribution greatly influences ring performance therefore we modify the pressure distribution according to the individual application. The wear-resistance and running-in behavior of the outer ring surface is defined by selecting from various coating options, which include the high-performance electroplated, thermally sprayed and PVD coatings. Goetze modern oil control rings scrape off oil from the cylinder wall, leaving just the required amount for lubrication. The running surface is the contour of the ring facing the cylinder surface. The objective of this running surface profile is to create a lubrication slot with a hydrodynamic film which the piston ring can slide on without touching the other surface. An optimized asymmetrical-barrelled running surface ensures low lubricant consumption even after a very long running time. Goetze piston rings have anti-scuffing properties that promote smooth engine operation, reduced oil consumption and long engine life. In addition, the Goetze process helps prevent materials from detaching and cracking and aids in environmental protection

KS crankshaft main bearing sets provide maximum load-bearing capacity, anti-seize and low wear and friction. KS main bearing sets are manufactured with aluminum-tin sliding material and the innovative aluminum-zinc-bismuth alloy in which bismuth replaces lead. From the strands continuously cast on site, strip is generated in defined and coordinated rolling and annealing operations for subsequent cladding. The various steel-aluminum composites are finally produced by roll bonding. Innovative coatings also ensure optimal running-in behavior and low-wear continuous running. The spectrum of possible surface coatings at KS Gleitlager extends from galvanic films deposited electro-chemically and sputter layers applied electro-physically in a high vacuum, to synthetic antifriction coatings.
