This key contains an embedded micro-chip called a transponder. Each transponder has its own unique code–it’s the key’s ‘fingerprint’. When the key is inserted into the ignition and turned, the transponder is energized and broadcasts its unique code to the car’s receiver in the dashboard. If the car’s receiver recognizes the code, it will allow the car to start. This specific key holds a Philips 46 crypt transponder chip. This key also has a high security blade, a preventive measure against ignition picking and key duplication. Cutting and origination services for the key must be handled using a special laser cutting machine.

This item is a brand new, uncut transponder key that is compatible with 2004-2006 Acura TL and 2004-2008 Acura TSX models. A transponder key blade adds an extra level of security over a traditional car key. It has a small transponder chip embedded in the key. Once it’s inserted into the ignition, a unique signal goes to the vehicle’s Engine Control Unit (ECU) to activate the engine. This helps deter fraudulent key tampering and theft. If the ECU doesn’t recognize the unique code of the transponder, the immobilizer will activate and the engine will not turn on. This is a high-security key blade, which protects against fraudulent ignition tampering. The key will require a specialized laser cutting machine for origination and programming.
