The Delphi Fuel Level Sensor is a magnetic, non-contacting angular position sensor that converts rotary motion into an electrical signal to provide accurate fuel level measurement and enable reliable fuel gauge readout. Its small, modular design allows a wide range of applications and its calibrated output signal compensates for component and assembly variations. Design features enable dependable performance and durability. The Fuel Level Sensor’s linear output voltage is directly proportional to the sensor’s field, perpendicular to the sense element. Non-contact performance is made possible by state-of-the-art linear programmable, fully integrated Hall effect and Anisotropic magneto resistive (AMR) technologies. Rotating magnets generate Hall voltage with a sine wave response signal, with zero when the magnets are parallel to the sense element and plus/minus when the magnets are at angles to the sense element. The sensor operates in a linear region of the sine wave response signal. The Delphi Fuel Level Sensor features a proven magnetic circuit technology that has been used in high volume absolute position sensor applications for more than 10 years. The non-contacting design of the sensor maximizes product life by eliminating signal deterioration due to contact wear, ink failure or dendritic growth. Its low current draw with high resolution output signal may be calibrated for the angular travel of a specific application to compensate for assembly variations.
