1963 Mercury Marauder Flywheels

Hays Steel Flywheels are manufactured from certified billet material that will not break up under the stress of high RPM and severe punishment of racing. All Hays flywheels are certified S.F.I. spec 1.1. This flywheel fits the big block internal balanced 352, 390, 427, 428, 429, 460 CID Ford for 1965 through 1972. This is a 184 tooth flywheel that weighs 40 lbs. Requires an 11 in Borg-Beck, Long or Mark XII clutches. This flywheel is thicker than stock and may require a bellhousing spacing or a Lakewood bellhousing to eliminate interference. Flywheel bolts included. Other applications available.

Most flex plates are made of a thick piece of sheet metal with bolt holes for the torque converter and teeth for the starter. The job of a flex plate is to allow for expansion of the torque converter as engine RPM increases. Broken flex plates can not be repaired, they must be replaced. Hays heavy-duty flexplates for Ford 385-Series high performance and competition engines are constructed of a thicker than stock steel plate, enabling them to withstand the stress of high-stall torque converters and high-RPM engines. While factory stock plates tend to crack around the crankshaft hub when punished under high torque and RPM conditions, the thicker Hays flexplate handles the force. These flexplates are supplied with a ring gear that is securely welded in place. All Hays heavy-duty flexplates are zinc-dichromate plated to resist corrosion and are SFI certified under specification 29.1.
