The injection control pressure (ICP) sensor monitors and relays the oil pressure inside the high pressure oil rails to on-board computers, helping to ensure smooth and proper fuel injector actuation and operation. Properly pressurized oil delivery is critical to the hydraulically activated electronically assisted unit injector (HEUI) fuel injection system, and when this system fails to operate properly the on-board computers may throw a code and illuminate a check engine light.
