Pulled engine to replace oil pan, front/rear main seals. Figured while it was out on the engine stand I'd go ahead and do some preventative maintenance and replace the crank/bearings. Coming back from Georgia I heard a grinding noise for a second. Engine siezed up. Towed the truck back 536 miles home. Crankshaft severed between cyl # 1 and #2 locking everything up. Stick to Gm parts and machine shops or let a sleeping dog lie.

Bottom Line not recommended

After inspecting 8 (yes, 8) of these crankshafts, I finally had enough and went back for a refund. Some units had main journals not ground concentric with the center line of the shaft (fillets still present on one side but missing on the other), and/or rod journals ground off center, others had end clearance way out of spec. The best unit I could find ended up having excessive main bearing clearances, and rear main sealing surface ground down too far (air gap around seal lip). To top it off, journal fillets are not restored on these crankshafts during the machining process. It seems like this product has zero quality control. Take your original crank and get it turned or polished, you will save time, money, and aggravation. If I could give this item zero stars I would, but one star is the minimum I could select in order to leave a comment.
