I installed this new pump on my 2005 Ford Explorer XLT with a 4.6lt Engine.. It fits fine .. The only thing i notice is that the impeller is a little bigger and not caged like the one that was installed. This maybe a upgrade to help with better flow. it doesn't hit or affect its performance in anyway..

Installed myself on a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4.6L V8. Auto parts store loaned me the fan clutch wrenches, which you will need to remove the fan. Changed out the thermostat and radiator cap while I was at it. Check your radiator hoses, if they need changing, this is the time to do it. It's been 1.5 years since installation, no problems whatsoever.

I purchased this water pump for my wife's 2013 Ford F-150 Lariat. I tend to buy OEM parts to get the same quality that the factory parts supposedly have, but since the original water pump failed at 87,000 miles, I decided that the OEM part probably wasn't that great, so I bought the Carquest premium pump. It was a painless install that took about an hour to accomplish with no special tools. This water pump looks, fits, and performs flawlessly. We have had it on her truck for only 1000 miles or so, but I don't foresee any problems with it because it seems to be a quality piece, and the provided seals seemed to be good as well. I have used the carquest brand of water pumps on a couple of vehicles in the past, and they stood the test of time and miles.

I wanted to add a confirmation of the other review, and a massive thanks to that person for sharing this tidbit to watch out for. The tapped bolt boss for the bracket that secures the heater tube outlet to the top of the water pump is indeed too shallow. A pair of washers under this flange head bolt remedied the situation but this is one of those things that turns a quick repair into a long night for someone who doesn't have any extra hardware laying around.

The threads for the heater outlet tube bolt are only drilled and tapped to 23mm deep. The stock Ford one is drilled and tapped to 30mm deep. This causes the stock M6x25mm bolt not to seat all the way down. You will need to replace the stock bolt with a M6x20mm bolt from the hardware store. Knowing this, the manufacturer should really include a replacement M6x20mm bolt with the water pump to cause a less of a headache. Water pump otherwise is excellent and bolts right in to replace stock one.

After approx 15 months this water pump experienced a catastrophic failure at/near the pulley --- the housing severed approximately 2" across causing the pulley to become misaligned subsequently pushing the fan into the radiator assembly and causing loss of coolant. Application: 1990 F-350 7.5L Usage: normal, minimal towing Event details: speed 40mph, engine RPM approx 2000, no load in truck, ambient temp apprx 68 degrees
