Was replacing the steering box in my 2001 F250 V10 and the fittings for both the high pressure hose from the pump and the return hose to the cooler were rotted and broke upon removal. The same hoses from the dealer would have ran over $300 plus tax, the two hoses from Advance cost under $50 including tax. They were quality hoses and were an exact match for the 12 year old factory hoses.

Bottom Line recommended

This is the replacement line that goes from the brake hydroboost unit to the steering box. The hydro boost unit provides assistance to both the brakes and steering box. My line was leaking where it entered the steering box. I think the old washer blew out. This stopped the leak ASAP and was an exact replacement. The 7.3 powerstoke uses Mercron V transmission fluid, not power steering fluid.

I usually only use OEM parts, but I got in a pinch because I needed the hose on a sunday. The routing of the hose is a little different than the OEM one, so don't be alarmed when they look a little different, but it worked out just fine. The new hose takes a Standard wrench and the OEM one is Metric FYI. I used this on an early 99 F250 SD. w/5.4L My build date is actually 1998.

Hose went on easy enough once you can get to the fitting on the pump.. As soon as I started the truck the swivel fitting on the pump end blew completely apart. The little metal ring inside the fitting that is suppose to hold it together is extremely chinsey!! I could clip it back together then pull it right back apart by hand. I Guess I need to find a quality hose.. Don't buy this piece of junk!!
