Having checked the reviews on multiple websites, I decided to test fit my coils and plugs ahead of time. I am glad I did. I found that some of the coil wires were not quite to specifications. Some of the coils at the spark plug end were almost too big to fit the cap on the spark plugs. I mixed and matched until I got them all fitted as best I could. Now I will wait and see how well they work in the long run.

This item was a replacement from a BWD type coil that i installed last year. The lifetime warranty on the BWD brand did qualify for a replacement or/refund. Excellent /Professional Advance Auto employee traded out with a Car Quest brand for my malfunctioned one that my scan tool code recognized. After installed ,it eliminated an idling / ignition problem on my 2005 Ford Explorer. Perfect! Helpful and I highly recommend any and all Advanced Auto stores for auto repair parts purchases .

Its frustrating enough to diagnose a random misfire. After plugs and wires didn't fix the problem, I decided to swap out the factory coil with 229k miles on it because 1 and 5 were throwing misfires. After I learned that these cylinders are controlled by the same coil with 2 towers. Therefore, there are 3 coils to run this V6 engine. Now it makes sense why 1 and 5 are misfiring and the rest are fine. Anyhow, I bought a different brand coil that was a little less money and proceeded to pay the difference by wasting over 4 hours of my time and more than the difference in price in fuses. After putting the original coil back in and all the problems went away, I took the other brand coil back and paid the up-charge to buy this NGK. The first one came in the next day and I took it out of the box to find little black plastic chunks in the sealed bag. Unfortunately, most of the plug for the signal wires was broken. This was not a manufactured defect, but happened by all too common rough shipping and handling. Fortunately for me, another was returned that morning to the store and was not broken, so we exchanged them. It took about 10 minutes to change the coil out and am positive this has corrected the misfire after a test drive. It is unfortunate that I wasted an entire afternoon on a ten minute job, but that's just another lesson to why parts from a solid brand the industry trusts is always a better value. I acknowledge that not all parts made by other brands are bad, but I will be buying from known brands, with hopefully better quality control, from now on

good price, works great, problem is the applications that are claimed fits, like a 3l ford ranger, are not accurate, modification is required for the coil to distributor wire to attach properly, easy enough for the experienced but likely frustrating for inexperienced DIY'r.

I installed this coil on my 1993 F-150 4.9l pickup truck. I upgraded the distibutor cap, button, wires, and plugs at the same time. No magic increase in fuel consumption, power, or much else. There may have been a slight improvement in idle, but that could have been my wishful thinking. Everything was fine for about 5 months, when without warning, while attempting to cross a busy intersection my truck began to stumble, stall, and barely drug itself out of the intersection. How embarrassing. Because of my experience, I would not in good faith recommend this item.

I purchased the MSD Performance coil to upgrade the original factory coil. It was a perfect fit for my 1993 F-150 SVT Lightning! I immediately noticed a smoother idle, more responsive acceleration and an increase in gas mileage as well! 100% satisfied!
