My Dad installed this item, and it was quite difficult on my car (1997 Ford Contour,4 cyl.), but that's just the car, not the part. Dad said it was heavy duty and was an exact match. It cost a little more than similar items, but came with a limited lifetime warranty, so it was worth it!

Mercury Mystique 2000 4cyl 2.0. Direct fit, undid two bolts and had to pry it out. Seems to be working great. It came as a Remanufactured Motorcraft. I think it was a good deal with $25 core refund and 1 year warranty.

First one out of the box appeared to have been dropped and was damaged beyond use. Glad the tech at the store opened the box - I hadn't planned to. They got me a replacement from another location, no problem. But now I find that the threaded stud that the cable is to be terminated on is bent and the threads crossed. The included nut only goes on 2-3 threads. I am baffled about how "Worldwide" stays in business. Haven't yet installed it, so I don't know if it actually works. The customer SHOULD NOT be doing the quality control for the company. This is known as BAD BUSINESS.

This was the first alternator I replaced and it was quite easy. I had to perform the repair in a shopping center parking lot. I had to take the air box off of the throttle body, and I had very easy access to the alternator. Only 3 bolts hold it on. Be careful disconnecting and reconnecting the wires. The only thing I needed an extra person to help with was getting the belt back on. It could be difficult trying to get the belt back on while holding the belt tensioner in position at the same time. I recommend replacing the serpentine belt at the same time if it needs replaced.

Needed this part immediately. because I was grounded without it. Somehow, it ended up being sold in Madison, WI, instead of Stoughton, WI, but I needed it and was able to pick it up quickly anyway.

The Remy/Tough One Alternator Model# 92317, Replacement Alternator for a 2000 Mercury Cougar Base 2.5L Vin:L. What can I say about it, It is listed as a NEW Alternator, Advance Auto Parts says it is a 130 Amp Alternator, but the manufacturer(REMY INTERNATIONAL INC)has nothing on the alternator nor the box it come in or leaflet that comes in the box as to what Amperage it is, so I have no idea actually what amperage it is, Finally, the voltage regulator on the #92317 Alternator I got came with the wrong voltage regulator on it, the picture shows it with the right regulator, but it came with another type that will not allow you to plug the vehicles harness 3 prong connector into it. My Cougar alternaor has 2 tabs on top and 1 offset to the right on the bottom of the voltage regulator, the one that came on the #92317 has only one tab centered on the bottom and the it is larger overall dimension of socket/plug. Advance Auto ordered another one for me, it too came with the wrong voltage regulator, I am currently in communications with Tech Support with Remy International to get this issue resolved. I suggested at Advance Auto Parts store to just switch out the voltage regulator, they told me that if I done that it would VOID the warranty completely on the New Alternator, and that they could not do it, but they would give me an alternator(another Brand, with right regulator) and a torx tool to exchange them, I decided not to go that route totally. The only option left is to find 3 prong connector that will fit the voltage regulator for the vehicles wiring harness and cut the factory plug off and solder the one I need on the harness wires, if that can even be achived, reason: the connector is up in behind the engine compartment, acessable from right side of vehicle fender well, up in there pretty good, don't know if I can even get to it good enough to replace it properly(not much slack in harness at all).. Don't know of you have replaced an Alternator in a 2000 Mercury Cougar or not, but you are in for a REAL TREAT..O..M..G..!

I purchased this to fix my brother's car. I broke down in Pennsylvania. He is pretty good working on cars, however with this part I had to put it in a garage because in the process of try to fix the alternator the wheel bearing broke. So the part was a great deal and price but it cost me an extra $400.00 to get it put on and fix the wheel bearing. I have been buying my parts from advance auto parts for 21 years now. I have never had a hard time about taking parts back for core charges and they have always been then when I have had a question and always willing to help if I was stuck on a repair. Great job to all who have helped me.
