The only cons were, the parts included in the kit were not fully described. ie rear band. A recommendation should be included to clean/flush or replace the converter.

Best kit on the market for the price!! I have rebuilt more transmission than I can count with either this kit or the KS-69 depending on Year / Make/ Model. Only thing I recommend to upgrade on this kit is the 3-4 Clutch Pack if going to be used in a 350hp+ Application!!

This product identifies as early 87 (KS-39). I talked to store and they said my application was early. I did not trust the answer so I used the "Chat online", they said early. Still did not trust answer so I checked with dealer, they said there was a production change April 87. My transmission build date was Feb. I asked store for parts list to compare early and late versions, not available. Called Pro-King and they said parts list could not be supplied because they did not want to have competitors copy their list. Purchased product, No parts list included, just a note that says if you open it, its yours and non returnable. Since you cannot see every part in the package, it is a guessing game with your money. The parts I could see matched the GM service manual and the disassembled transmission. Bottom line: wrong kit, I needed the KS-40. I called Pro King to see it they could help identify the differences. Only help the were willing to proved was to say there was a difference and they could not tell what the differences were other than to say the kits were not interchangeable. So if you are going to buy Pro-King, just know it is a roll of the dice. I will say that they kit does contain a soft seals, clutch plates (metal and friction) and some bushings (oil pump and rear) but none of the others. Also check with the chevrolet dealer, they gave me a parts diagram that matched my application and it was different than the service manual. Also there are many special tools that are recommended. I had to make the tools to compress the clutch springs. I used threaded rods, nuts, 1"x1" angle iron to compress the springs but bent one of the springs. You need to apply force on the spring in three places not two. I reassembled using a 1x4 in place of the angle iron. All the other tools I managed without. I would give the kit a higher mark (5-star) if you had a parts list and could figure out which kit was correct. So if you can guess the correct kit, you good to go. Oh and buy some ziplock bags to bag old parts, a sharpe to mark bags, and have a digital camera ready. You are going to need it.
