The supplied upper ball joint castle nut is taller than OEM. Thus the cotter pin does not fit when torqued to OEM specs, then a bit tighter to align the hole (see pictures). There isn't enough clearance between the bottom of the nut's notches and cotter pin hole. You must use the OEM castle nut, unless you want to modify the supplied nut. Upon greasing the zerk fitting there is fresh grease oozing out of 2 pin holes in the upper ball joint's boot (manufacturer's defects). Now, I'll have to replace the control arm a second time. Requiring me to purchase new castle nuts, and additional new lock nuts for the control arm studs, as lock nuts lose their effectiveness (resistance to loosening) with each removal/install. I've contacted both Moog and Driv. They will not send me correct fitting castle nuts, or replacement upper ball joint boots. Their response it to return the parts for warranty replacement. We know the replacements will also have the wrong height castle nuts, as it was this way for both side Moog upper control arms. These control arms do not come packaged /shipped with a protective plastic sleeve, covering the ball joint boots. I highly recommend Moog start doing so like OEM and other parts suppliers. The OEM service manual states if the ball joint boots are damaged they must be replaced. Damaged boots allow water and contaminants to enter the ball joint resulting in premature failure. I Prefer to install new boots because the joints are brand new, to avoid repeating the entire job. Unfortunately Moog and Driv are not providing this as an option. Moog and Driv should be appreciative of my bringing these product issues to their attention. They should provide the reasonable more practical solutions I have requested. I'm very disappointed with both Moog and Driv. Their response is passive. They essentially have no customer service, and just sent me back to the point of sale. I recommend OEM parts whenever possible to avoid these aforementioned problems.
