I purchased this unit online for my 2005 Mustang V6. I was hearing a "Squeal" just after I started the car. It was more noticeable when the car was cold. I had replaced the belt, so I knew that wasn't it. I found online that this noise can also be the starter. I wanted a "better" starter then the standard Worldwide that Advance (and others) offer. Remy looked like it was very good quality and had a lifetime warranty. I was able to use an online Advance coupon and ended up getting a great deal! This starter is pretty much identical to the Visteon (Ford) starter that it replaced. There isn't any plastic on it and it bolted on perfectly. I'm not a mechanic, so having things fit right the first time are a big plus for me. It works great and took care of the squeal. Thanks Advance!

Worked great we'll see how long it last. It's not made in China which is a plus also not made in the US which is a minus. South America.

It seemed to fit perfectly and it worked the first time I turned the key. Sounds different than the old starter. I assume this is because it is turning twice as fast as the old one since it only has half of the teeth (11) on the pinion gear as the original starter had (22 teeth). Been on the truck for less than a week so no comments on longevity at this time.

I went on vacation when my starter went out. I found the local store and purchased this starter and took it to a local mechanic. After the new rebuild starter was put on it would not engage. All you heard was the starter hitting the flywheel and nothing else. Arranged with the mechanic shop to take it back and getting another one. Got it installed and same thing but this time it blow a 50 amp fuse first. I had to get my original starter rebuild which cost me $80 more then this starter. DO NOT BUY, GET A NEW STARTER NOT REBUILD ONE!!

Installed the starter, turned the key, loud click followed by smoke from a melted relay wire. Installed another new starter, solenoid and relay wire, turned the key...same thing. Went to the Ford dealer and got an OEM starter, installed new relay wire...starts perfectly. I don't know if these starters are made out of spec or what but 2 in a row pulled so much current that the burn up the 12 gauge relay wire.

2005 Ford Mustang V6. This starter is NOT a direct replacement. When installed the locating tab on the power cable hits the plate where the ignition wire (solenoid Wire) attaches and causes the starter to run the minute you reconnect the battery terminal. This could be a serious problem.

The product "shorts to ground" on the engine block because of design. Switching circuit for the solenoid.
