NGK’s patented NHTC (New High Temperature Ceramic) glow plugs were developed for OEM diesel engine manufacturers to comply with ever-stricter emissions standards. Compared to metal glow plugs, NHTC glow plugs have a more robust, fully ceramic heating element which is encased in a ceramic insulator. The new ceramic high-temperature glow plug (NHTC glow plug, New High Temperature Ceramic) has a fully ceramic heating element. It reaches an operating temperature of 1000C in two seconds and can afterglow for up to ten minutes at temperatures up to 1350C.
