Modern vehicles may have 100 or more electrical harness connectors in every operating system of the vehicle. Terminal tension may weaken with time or corrosion may occur within the connector housing making replacement necessary. The Automatic Transmission Input Shaft Speed Sensor measures the rotational speed of the transmission shafts. Input speed is monitored and relayed to the engine control module or transmission control module by either an analog or digital signal for proper shift points, speedometer operation and transmission diagnostics. Reasons for replacement include check engine light illumination, poor or erratic shifting, and no or erratic speedometer operation.
