Comments about Permatex High-Temperature Thread Sealant (.2 oz):

I used this sealant for one thing...to seal the leaking at the transmission cooler line fitting.
I purchased a new radiator and new transmission cooler lines, but even with the lower fitting completely tightened the trans fluid still leaked thru the threads. So I used this sealant. It has worked well. I have driven about 200 miles (lots at highway speeds) and no leaking has occurred at the fitting thus far.

NOTE: The full cure time is 72 hours. Fortunately I was able to wait that long since I was waiting on exhaust parts to be shipped to me, but that is a LONG time for full cure.

Comments about Permatex High-Temperature Thread Sealant (.2 oz):

Permatex you failed with this sealer.

          What a mistake.
Applied to all brand new exceptionally clean threads on a new engine, and it simply never cured.

I kneaded the tub as directed applied the product, and several weeks later still waiting for it to cure. Still "wet". I have read several others who have experienced this same problem with this crud.

I feel sorry for the guy who posted here who used it on his head bolts!

I contacted Permatex about this faulty concoction of a poor excuse for a thread sealer.

The last thing you need is added stress when assembling an expensive engine, and Permatex has provided that!

          Never again.

Comments about Permatex High-Temperature Thread Sealant (.2 oz):

This stuff seals threads against fluid leakage, but will not secure fasteners like thread locker. It also does not set up hard like thread locker, but more of a softer gummy-like texture or like moist powder. There is plenty in the tube to do several medium sized fasteners. I used it on Chevy 350 head bolts, which are 7/16" and there are 17 per head and I still had some left in the first tube even after applying it to about 4-5 threads per bolt. The only con I could think of is that you apply this by hand and it can get mildly messy. Nothing any real man minds and nothing a quick wipe of a rag can't fix.
