pump works good

By

from Albuquerque NM

Pros

  • Easy To Assemble
  • Works As Advertised

Cons

  • Supplied Hose Collapses

Best Uses

  • General Fluid Transfer

Comments about Performance Tools Multi Use Pump:

The pump itself works fine its just the hose that comes with it is not very good and will collapse. I would suggest you get a better hose and all will work ok.

Comments about Performance Tools Multi Use Pump:

Attempted to remove motor oil through the dipstick pipe...as it is advertised to do. Followed the instructions and all I got was oil everywhere and frustrated. Initially the adapter for the dipstick hose would not seal sufficiently to pull the oil through the hose. After taping the joint with electrical tape, the vacuum caused the cheap input hose to collapse. It took 90 minutes to pump out two quarts of oil.

Comments about Performance Tools Multi Use Pump:

For the lawnmower come Spring, the engine needs a new 1/3 cup of oil after the Summer before and sitting all Winter. Used to be that you tilt the mower over to unscrew the drain plug. This tool offers a much painless and cleaner oil change with the mower upright. The only surprise was after the oil being evacuated reached the bottom the discharge hose spurted out of the collection can and shot some oil on my shirt. Warm water cleaned the unit and its hoses. Later, the tool was used to painlessly siphon old two-cycle gas out of the trimmer.

I was reluctant with this tool. Other, cheaper tools stop after one use according to online comments. I did not want to spend $85 on a beachball designed unit. I didn't want to spend $150 on an electric pump. I think I got my money's worth with this $15 tool and it did two chores right out of the box.

Comments about Performance Tools Multi Use Pump:

Bought this to swap gear lube in my car, after being advised that it doesn't do well with thicker oils. I took a chance, and it worked great. It is a little flimsy, so you do have to be careful to avoid a mess, but it was well worth the money.

Hello Bob, I can help you with that! This transfer pump is made of plastic. When you are done, just pump in clean water to flush the cylinder out.

1)how long are each of the orange tubes? and 2)does this keep flowing like a siphon or do u have to keep pumping it.? thanks

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

I'm happy to help, Multi Use Pump! The orange tubes are 51 inches long and yes, after 3-4 pumps to prime the pump when siphoning the liquid will flow without further pumping. The instructions for the pump are available here: http://www.wilmarcorp.com/files/W1145_Manual.pdf.

WHAT IS FLUID OUNCE CAPACITY PER STROKE ?
Asked on 1/25/2014 by EL CHEAPO from DAYTONA

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

I'm sorry to say we never calibrated the flow capacity per stroke. It would be difficult to estimate as once the pump is primed it continues to siphon. It's not exact, but if you take the tube size 9 - inch x 2 - inch estimated. This gives you a volume of 2.89812 cubic inch x .554113 oz per cubic inch = 1.60588 oz per stroke. This is all estimates, and not something that we actually measured.

        • Q:

I bought one of these pumps (W1145) from a local Advance Auto store. I was initially pleased with performance. However it sat for some time unused. When I tried to use it there was no vacuum. The container indicates that you can add oil. However I have tried this and problem not solved. I would like to dismantle the pump to see if there is another issue. The instructions indicate this is doable and acceptable. I have tried to open the pump but unsuccessfully. I am afraid if I put exceptional pressure I will break the plastic housing. How can I dismantle the pump to inspect and possibly replace the seal ???
