Mobil1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 (1 qt.)

Part No. 104361/98W573 Warranty Details
Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS is a supreme-performance, synthetic, multipurpose SAE 75W-90 automotive gear lubricant that's designed to meet the performance requirements of modern passenger vehicles in a wide range of operating conditions, including limited-slip applications as well as deliver outstanding power transfer performance. Compared to conventional hypoid gear lubricants, Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricants LS 75W-90 performs exceptionally over a wide range of temperatures. Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 achieves this through a proprietary formulation that delivers optimized viscosity-temperature properties and a high level of inherent formulation stability to protect against thermal and oxidative degradation, wear, corrosion and viscosity loss associated with premature shearing. It also can be used in extended service and for aiding in fuel economy.

Product Features:
  • Meets the most severe API Service MT-1 and GL-5 EP gear oil service classification
  • Greater film strength at higher operating temperatures, reduced fluid friction and low-temperature application down to -50°C
  • Outstanding protection against low-speed/high-torque wear and high-speed scoring
  • Compatible with typical automotive seals and gaskets
  • Not recommended for automatic, manual or semiautomatic transmissions for which engine oil or automatic transmission fluids are recommended
  • Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 is recommended for use in modern high-performance automobiles like SUVs, Vans and light-duty trucks that require API GL-5 and MT-1 level performance

Changed to Mobil LS1 in my 2006 Tundra 4WD Limited slip (LS) about 8 months ago. After about 3-5k miles I started getting a chattering noise when turning sharp. Thought it was the front end, could not find anything wrong. Transmission maybe??? So I had the trans flushed at the Toyo dealer.(120k miles on truck). Could not be my rearend...I have Mobil 1. Changed over to Lucus 80W-90 standard gear oil with 1/3 of a bottle of the KW LS additive. My truck drives perfect again and turns are very smooth. Can't believe it took me 20k miles to figure out this product is all hype. The oil was still very clear though when I drained it. Only positive thing I can think of?

Comments about Mobil1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 (1 qt.):

I've used Mobil 1 synthetic oil products for nearly 40 years. Every vehicle I own has Mobil 1 synthetic lubricants in it including my yard equipment. I have never had any type of failure from using Mobil 1 products. As a mechanic of nearly 50 years I would recommend Mobil 1 synthetic lubricants to everyone who wants to never worry about premature wear and tear.

I've torn down many engines that ran Mobil 1 and never found any sluge, staining or extreme wear. The same holds true for transmissions, wheel bearings and anywhere else a lubricant is required.

Believe it or not, I shot 3 bottles of this lube right into my rear end until it started leaking out onto the floor. boy o boy was that a mess , but that's when i knew my rear end was full to the max. The bottles are kinda big , they contain a quart of lube each. But, no pain no gain is what my grandma always said. and now i believe her. She was a mechanic for over 40 years and worked on everything from model t's to school buses. So shes seen lots of rear ends. I have been told you should never be caught without enough lube inside your rear end. Mobil 1 makes a fantastic lube just for this purpose and i will always treat my rear end to this wonderful lube.
Thanks Grandma and thank you Mobil 1!

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

Hi Strahil, I'm glad to assist you! Unless the transmission specifically recommends an API GL-5 fluid for your transmission, it should not be used. GL-5 gear oils are designed for gears that require a high level of EP (Extreme Pressure) additives to protect gear teeth under extreme stress. Regrettably, these same additives can be very aggressive toward "yellow metals "and are generally not recommended where copper, brass and bronze components are used.

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

Yes, Rod. You can use 75W-90 gear oil instead of 80W-90, unless your truck specifically says not to run 75w-90 lube. If you have a limited slip differential, you also need to add some LS fluid. However, we do offer the Valvoline High-Performance 80W-90 Gear Oil (Part No. VV831) which has the API Grade Rating: GL5 or MT-1.
