A new Melling oil pump shaft is recommended to complete every new oil pump install. Melling offers a complete line of high quality shafts for domestic and import pump applications. A new oil pump shaft is necessary due to possible metal fatigue, cracking and even twisting damage of the old shaft even when the part appears to be in good condition. Complete every Melling oil pump replacement with a new Melling oil pump shaft.

Comments about Melling Oil Pump Intermediate Shaft:

This part does what is needed. I was seriously considering purchasing the heavy duty unit by Ford Racing, but it really hit me that my truck doesn't see high RPMs and also, I remember seeing so many of the 5.0 Mustangs with owners that would drive them hard and I never heard of this snapping, so if the factory unit was that durable, I know that this aftermarket unit from a reputable manufacturer such as Melling has to be 2nd to none.

  • Q:

which way does the snap ring go on the pump drive shaft?
Asked on 7/4/2012 by BS from villa park,il.

Hold the drive gear key with a pair of needle-nose pliers and work the key into the keyway of the driveshaft and drive gear. Key must be inserted past the retaining groove for the snap ring. Install the snap ring on the end of the oil pump drive shaft.
