Bought this cooler to see if it would help with a transmission over temp issue I was having. It has certainly reduced the amount of times the transmission temperature sensor on my 2006 Dodge Dakota has tripped. It was easy to install. My only complaint is that other part numbers from Hayden (Imperial) have the needed 392 hose splice kit included, but this one does not. Not a huge deal though. You can buy it separately for a few bucks more.

Installed on a 1985 Chevy K10 w/700R4. I noticed a difference immediately while towing my camper, should have installed one long ago. Installation was a breeze with additional hose that was also purchased. Online with additional hose and coupon code was under $60. Yes, it's inexpensive piece of mind.

I used this to replace a stock transmission cooler for a 1997 F150. i had to cut off the fittings from the old cooler and then use new ones. This cooler is much bigger and better! I used 2 parallel aluminum strips to attach this to the radiator support.

universal kit that fits a 2005 Dakota. Would have liked a cleaner install, but works. Have to cut return hose and add fittings which are sold separately. The hose included is a little short but works.

Comments about Imperial Maxi-Kool® XL Transmission Oil Cooler:

I added this cooler in line with my factory cooler on my 2006 Trailblazer. The truck is lifted with large offroad tires, skidplates, bumper, winch...and the trans was running hot. The cooler has lower my trans temps by 40-50 degrees on average. Truck seems to shift smoother and no longer hunt for gears since the trans doesnt get as hot.

With the mounting position I used and where I spliced the lines, I needed an extra section of hose, but everything else was included. Nice kit.

Hi. I am looking to install this transmission cooler into my 2006 Dodge Magnum AWD R/T with the Hemi V8. I need to know if this kit comes complete with all the necessary fittings. If not, I need to know the best way to adapt without cutting or removing the line. So I install this correctly, I also need to know which of the 2 transmission lines attached to the radiator returns the cooled fluid to the transmission, the upper one or the lower one? (Note: The hose attached to the upper radiator fitting goes to the lower fitting on the transmission, and vice-versa, according to the schematic I am looking at.) Thanks for your help.

Class A, Ford motor home, 460cid. Stock cooler is 7.5" x 11". I'm interested in uping the cooling capacity by replacing the OEM with this slightly larger one. Yes, bracket modifications neccessary to secure it. How much more cooling capicity does this provide over part# 243007?

                  A:

Happy to answer your question Karl! When installing this transmission oil cooler you generally don't have to prefill it. You would install it and fill the transmission with its required amount of automatic transmission fluid, naturally it will show low because of the added cooler then you just add till it shows full on the dipstick and that's it.

This oil cooler does not have a cooling fan attached. The plate and fin design provides excellent cooling efficiency without the use of a fan.
