Installed in 57 Tbird. Used oven thermostat, with normally closed contact, with capillary probe mounted by engines' thermostat housing and set temperature to run fan at 70 deg. C. and above. Used 12Vdc relay to control 8 Amp fan current when set point is reached, to keep fan current out of ignition switch, and to have the fan turn off when engine is shut down. Wired 25 A fuse per instructions to battery. Did have to build two parallel 1"x 1/8" steel straps with mounting studs welded to hold fan close to radiator without hitting the tubes or fins. Very satisfied with performance. (Usage is as a puller fan, mounted behind radiator.)

this fan worked awesome for quite some time. It fit my 92 S-10 like a glove and gave me no troubles, until one day. this fans design flaw is it's use of a clip to change the blade around for pusher or puller. I'm not sure how it happened, but one day the clip came loose and acted like a drill bit into a 150.00 all aluminum radiator. Only recked 2 cores and I was able to fix it, but I was no longer willing to use this fan to cool my truck. I went to 2 10" with locking nuts on the blades. Good fan though, did an excellent job minus it's flaw.

Comments about Imperial Electric Fan 16" Diameter:

This is a big fan, but just doesn't move a lot of air. Not like a factory fan from a junkyard (Dodge intrepid fans come to mind; quiet, flow a ton of air). Best to put this on something that just needs a "little more" and avoid for a daily driver or hauler. Go to a yard and pull a good stock fan.

Comments about Imperial Electric Fan 16" Diameter:

Easy install on my '78 Camaro. Nice and quiet compared to the factory belt fan. I ordered a larger one based on my stander radiator size, but it would not fit on the engine side and clear the pulley. The narrower 10" and 14" fans work better behind the radiator. I placed mine in front since mine has no AC, and since it was a pusher fan out of the box, I didn't need to change anything. I got the relay to go with it, which also made install easy.

Fan runs great, needed to purchase an additional install kit as the fan doesn't come with one. Fan was great but had some minor hiccups with the install kit. I used this fan to replace the existing mechanical fan as the fan clutch had gone out. The price of the fan and install (relay) kit together was less than the cost of a replacement fan clutch making the replacement decision easy. The fan comes with good installation instructions and proved very easy to install,

NOTE: This fan IS NOT MADE by "Imperial Toy" as shown here; read on: Contrary to answers given by "Daniel at AAP" here on 7/29/11 and "Soloman at AAP" given to me on 3/4/16, the Fan AAP PN 226116 is neither a 3-speed nor a 2-speed fan. AS indicated in AAP's photo of the fan, it only has two wires and therefore a single speed fan. As stated on the product's box and although made in China, the fan is marketed to AAP by Hayden Automotive (a/k/a S & P Temperature and contriols) in Lewisville TX 75057 1-888-505-4567. Their tech department confirmed it is single speed fan and the stated 16.5 amperes rating is a "maximum" amperage rating. They recommend use of Imperial Control PN 226204/ Hayden PN 3646 with radiator probe which can accommodate an on/off manual switch.

If you mount on the front side, then use it as a pusher, if you mount it on the back of the radiator, use it as a puller. Otherwise the fan will try to push the air back when you are moving.
