Comments about Bars Leak Liquid Aluminum Radiator Stop Leak (16.9 oz):

I tried this product as an alternative to replacing my leaking radiator in my 2003 Monte Carlo 3.4L. This product did not stop my leak but it did clog my heater core. I used half a bottle and it still clogged. The clog caused the flow of water to stop and my engine to overheat as well as leaving me without heat for the winter. I still have to replace my radiator and now my heater core. I might be able to unclog the blockage but this added several hours of work to what could have been a fairly simple job.

Comments about Bars Leak Liquid Aluminum Radiator Stop Leak (16.9 oz):

My 1999 Ford Expedition's heater core began to leak rather badly. Called 3 mechanics and the price to fix was between $880.00 to $1,100.00 because in order to get to the heater core in a Ford, one must pull the dashboard and the center console. Everything must be disconnected including the AC lines. So a $100.00 heater core becomes a labor intensive job because of the basic bad design of most cars.
I picked up a bottle of Bar's Liquid Aluminum Radiator Stop Leak, poured it into the system and in less than 1 minute the leak stopped.
I just drove 220 miles in 98 degree heat with the AC on full and not a leak, not a dribble, not a drop.
          This stuff really works!

I had a pretty bad leak on my radiator in a 98 jeep grand cheerokee. Added this to radiator, then let engine idle for 20 mins. At bout 17 mins the leak has stopped. Nothing wrong with engine or nothing. When adding additives don't drive vechiles, idle them. If give additives proper time to do their job right.

                        A:

Hi Hanum, tricky question! Kindly follow the instructions to use this Bars Leak Liquid Aluminum Radiator Stop Leak on your radiator. Allow your engine to cool. Make sure engine is cool enough so radiator cap can be safely removed. Shake Liquid Aluminum™ well and pour it directly into radiator. One bottle treats systems up to 4 gallons, so use ½ bottle for four cylinder engines. Fill radiator and overflow tank to proper level and re-install the radiator cap. Drive/idle your engine for 10 to 20 minutes. If leak continues, second application may be required or mechanical attention is needed. For severe leaks, like a blown head gasket, it is recommended to use Bar’s Leaks Head Gasket Fix or Head Gasket & Cooling Sealant. Leave BAR’S LEAKS Liquid Aluminum in the cooling system for continued protection. This product may help, but I would always recommend fixing the problem by finding out exactly the cause of leak and then replacing the necessary parts.

                        A:

If you have added Bars Leak Liquid Aluminum Radiator Stop Leak - Part No. 1186 and have not started the engine for 10 minutes, it will not offer its full efficiency. Bars Leaks particles will burn when subjected to the 5000 degree heat of the combustion chamber to seal head gasket seepage and small cracks which will not happen when you do not run the engine. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
