I have spent too much money on "gimmick" products that promised "wipe on and wipe off and it will look like new." Nothing worked. You can see by the pictures I attached, my 2003 Jeep Cherokee headlights were in horrible shape. After doing some research, I found this 3M product online which had nothing but great reviews. Decided to give it a try and it worked GREAT. I have never tried a product like this.

Here are some key points that you should follow for results like mine.
Just so you know, the sanding disk attach by Velcro onto the wheel. Take the grey 3000 grit disk off first (it comes attached in the package).

1. Allow about 60 to 90 minutes
2. Take your time!
3. Keep the sanding disks clean by using a toothbrush every 2 to 3 minutes
4. Wipe the headlight every 2 to 3 minutes with a cloth.
5. Keep at it with each step. Extra sanding during the 1st 3 steps will get you better results.
6. Did I mention take your time?

I am posting this same review on 3M's website. I never write reviews but this time, I just had to.
This product really worked!

Comments about 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System:

At first I was hesitant about this Kit, the results in others reviews looked too good to be true but I finally decided and picked it. I watched several videos online for the proper procedure to get the best results and followed the instructions from the booklet. I was amazed with the final result, the headlights of my old 99 Honda Civic look like brand new now, they are crystal clear. I couldn't be more happier with this marvelous product. Just make sure to order it online for store pickup, usually you get a 15% to 20% discount when you provide an email address.

        Best Uses

Comments about 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System:

The headlights I worked on were large so I had to take my time and not use too much pressure so I didn't clog the paper and wear them out before the job was complete. Being I had to go slow as to not wear the paper out too soon it took me 3 hours apiece to perform all the steps, 2 dry sandings, 1 wet sanding, buffing then apply the sealer (not included in the kit). Sanding through the factory UV coating made it take longer. You have to keep watching for when you cut through the UV coating and remove it all or it's not going to look right unless you do. Just wish they included more sandpaper for those of us that have larger headlights! Second, I wish they offered JUST the sandpaper refills!!

Well worth the money. After trying several rubbing compounds and hand-sanding kits, nothing came close to the quality that this kit delivers. Highly recommended to everyone with headlights turning white/yellow on the outside. Instructions were easy to follow and only took 25 minutes to make headlights from a 14 year old car look brand new.

Comments about 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System:

I've used this 3M product in the past. It works really well compared to the other products with the small abrasive papers that you have to manually use. This product requires a drill, which aids in the removal of the hazy build up. This isn't a permanent solution, as none of them are, but the last time I used the kit was in mid-2014 and it's now mid-2016 and the headlights are a bit cloudy again.

The one drawback is there are at least a few more pointed transitions around the headlight corners. Since the attachments are round, this makes it difficult to get to those points without marring the paint. They actually recommend using painters tape to tape off the areas where the attachment can come into contact with your bodywork.

No, you will not need any plast X polish after you use this 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System - part# 39008. It takes just a few steps to restore a pair of cloudy, foggy headlights with the 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System. Start with washing the lens with soap and water, tape the outer area and start sanding to remove any defects. Then polish the lens with the compound and finish it off by wiping with a towel. Since "John the Car-Doc" can't read... If you want the restoration to last you will need to put some kind of protective coating on the lenses. Automotive clear coat should work very well, and last even longer if you regularly wax the lenses with a quality UV protective wax also.

If used correctly, dry sand the 500 grit on the lens, clean, and repeat 2 more times, and do the same 3 times with 800 and 3000 grit sanding discs, then follow with the compound 3 times, you will get the clear lens as advertised. I do recommend following the compound with a glaze, and 3m ultra finishing paste all with the same orange pad. I also use a good sealant after completed just to keep the lens cleaner longer. This process will give you crystal clear lens that look brand new. NOT EXAGGERATING HERE. I clean headlights for a living and use this product on a regular basis. Of course I buy each different product in bulk, but the same products.
