Made with the same bends and routing as the original assembly, this molded hose is meant to fit the vehicle precisely. The knitted reinforcement and synthetic EPDM construction provide high-strength performance and resistance to detrimental environmental elements, coolants and temperature variations of -40°F (-40°C) to +257°F (+125°C) and the “quick connect” end allows for fast, convenient installation.

Mackay Heater Hose is manufactured from heat and ozone resistant EPDM meeting or exceeding Spec. SAE 20R3 Class D-1. Burst pressure (min) 250 PSI, Working pressure (max) 40PSI. In vehicles of today, a hose has to be designed to withstand the stresses of modern, more compact but powerful engines that run hotter and at a higher pressure. Other factors include smaller engine compartments with poor heat dissipation, aggressive coolant additives, and stray (electrochemical) current that may be conducting through the cooling system. In short, the smaller but more powerful engines of today work a lot harder than the larger engines that were standard before. More heat is generated, higher burst pressures are required in cooling system components, and hoses have to be made tougher to withstand these demands. Mackay’s research and development chemists have developed new rubber formulations and manufacturing processes that ensure Mackay hoses meet the greater wear and heat demands created by modern engines. Rubber compounds used in automotive hoses today are predominantly synthetic rubber formulation. All Mackay coolant hoses are made from EPDM compounds that are highly resistant to ozone attack. Hoses made from some other rubber compounds may be subject to ozone deterioration.

All APA/URO rubber coolant hoses are pre-shaped and double reinforced for extra strength and durability. Each hose is manufactured from ECD (Electro Chemical Degradation) resistant materials, which prevents electrolysis from breaking down the rubber from the inside out. All APA/URO cooling components are made to meet or exceed OE standards.
