Starting and running problems occur when the fuel accumulator is defective. All K-JETRONIC fuel injection systems use the fuel accumulator to assist in preventing hot start vapor lock and keeping the pressure and flow in the fuel distributor consistent. The accumulator contains an internal spring-loaded diaphragm that prevents vapor lock by keeping the system pressurized after the engine has been shut off.
