Ordered Online to save a few dollars and was very satisfied with that. Went to the store to pick up my alternator and had to wait for the employee to finish his break (5 minutes) then he went to the shelf and it was pulled and had my name on it already. Then came the time consuming part was how to remove the core charge because I had it with me already. Had to get help from the manager but left with a new alternator at about forty dollars higher than online shipped to my door. I just could not wait for it. I love shopping locally but I love getting a good deal also.

Bought this for my 2000 VW Passat 1.8T with engine code ATW. Wasn't sure if I needed Valeo or Bosch style but I was able to match up the alternator by the outer casing. I believe the Bosch is quite a bit larger than the Valeo. Install was a breeze since I already had replaced my alternator years ago and knew the process. The alternator was an exact match, pulley and all. Bonus was that I was able to upgrade from 90amp to 120amp with no issues to report so far. Hope this helps someone.

Alternator was identical to the original. To install on a vr6 you have to disconnect the front motor mount and the passenger side rear motor mount. Then remove air box and jack up engine several inches. Sounds complicated but it only took 2.5 hrs.

I own a 97 VW Jetta GLX VR6 and despite the process to get to the alternator, this alternator was easy to install. But with 250K miles and 15 years of use, it was about time for the original alternator to be quit. I would recommend this alternator to anyone who enjoys getting value out of every dollar.

The jury is still out on this product. Seems to work fine. It is difficult to install. Not the fault of the part. Very little clearance. It went in easier than the old come out. The alternator is tight between the car frame and the manifold of the VR6.

This was supposed to be an "Exact Fit" for my 2006 Jetta TDI. However the spacing was incorrect between the mounting bosses allowing for slop on the bracket when the bolts were tightened down. It was Sunday night and I had to get to work on Monday so I was able to make it work by using a couple washers as spacers. The top wasn't so bad but the bottom was a nightmare.

The part fit, but there were a couple of little tricks putting it in that could have been detailed in an instruction card, but there were no instructions at all. When starting up the unit made a bit of a whining noise I wasn't expecting but all in all it fit and has worked very well. Of course I have only been using it for a week so time will tell. Very good warranty, so if it fails I will just take it back.

The alternator has a plastic piece which is held in place with bolts. The bolts need to be in place before the alternator is assembled. The re-manufacturer forgot to put the bolts in. A couple of small bolts were put into the bolt holes but they just fell out. I had to jury-rig something to hold the plastic piece onto the alternator.

It doesn't keep my battery at the level it's supposed to. I still end up charging it at night. I can't find a parisitic draw anywhere but I'm tired of throwing money around. Great customer service just not sure how great the part is.
