I didn't get a chance to install it because it wasn't the problem. But I have yet to have any problems with the parts I get from Advanced.

A friend of mine was having problems with her Toyota's power steering, hard to turn, making noise. She took it to one of the chain stores they were going to charge her over $600.00 to change the pump, if that was all it is. By me doing it saved her over $300.00. Pump and pulley less then $250.00. She was very greatful. I was too. thanks Advance auto.

Ordered this expecting to get it installed in a weekend, only to find out that the pump was missing vital parts (particularly the metal low pressure fluid return tube shown in the product photo). On top of being extremely expensive - advanced auto does not carry a pulley that matches this pump. Ended up grabbing a pump AND pulley off of a popular auction site for less than a third of the price, shipped.

I purchased this pump for my daughter's 1999 Corolla. The power steering pump pulley eventually wore out the splines on the pulley, which made a nasty rattling sound, and since I wasn't sure if it was the pump or the pulley that was bad so I ordered both the pump and the pulley. The pump was not bad, just the pulley, but since I was this far why not replace both. The pump comes in a sturdy box which is used to return the old pump (core charges apply) and the pump is designed to fit several models and year cars. In this case you have to remove some parts from your old pump (hose inlet and return fittings, pulley) and there are supplied o-rings and crush washers included with the pump for this purpose. The pump does not come with a new pulley. You need to remove your old pulley or supply a new replacement pulley. The only drawback was the pump has plastic caps over the inlet and return openings, to protect the internals from debris, and they are installed prior to the re-manufacturer painting the pump. The paint dries around and over the caps and you have to be careful not to let the paint that cracks off of the plastic get into the pump. Also, the pump was not thoroughly clean prior to painting and the paint can be rubbed off in these areas. This is only cosmetic. Install the pump, replace the pulley and belt, fill with the recommended power steering fluid, start the car and turn the steering wheel from stop to stop several times to bleed the air out of the system. Add fluid as needed during this process. Check for leaks and you are done. The steering will be stiff at first and don't worry about the horrible sounds you will hear until the air has been purged from the system. Enjoy.
