My vehicle is a 2003 Toyota Echo. As basic of a model as they come. The old alternator had finally stopped charging the battery (except at a fairly high rpm) around 215,000 miles. Fair enough. This part was an exact fit replacement except for one thing. There are two bolts that hold on the alternator. The alternator itself doesn't come with bolts, so you use the existing ones and they thread into the alternator unit. I tested the old bolts (in good condition) with the new unit, before putting the new unit into the car. The top bolt was fine, but the threading was off a little on the larger bottom (pivot) bolt. The bolt did go in with moderate difficulty and I saw a slight shaving of the threads. The bolt now would go into the new unit, but not the old one, because the threads had been "modified" by the tougher metal of the alternator. This appeared to cause no damage to the new alternator, just the softer bolt. I would guess the threads are 95% the same. I decided to proceed and installed the new alternator successfully. The bolt went all the way in and is secure. Alternator works fine and my (fairly new) battery is staying steady at 12.8 volts. Hopefully I never need to remove this alternator...but in that case would get a replacement bolt and should be OK.

Get an OEM replacement, not this junk. My car doesn't even have any amplifiers or equipment that uses lots of power.

This alternator has my car running more efficiently. I noticed that I get another mile to two miles to the gallon. The car starts faster and it feels more responsive as well.
