The cylinder deactivation solenoid is an oil control valve used to control motor oil routing to and around the valve lifter system. By deactivating intake valve lift, engine cylinder contribution can be controlled providing engine power when needed or engine fuel economy when all cylinders are not required for safe vehicle operation.
