Both of my headlight motors on my '02 Trans Am went out. I opted to buy both sides "new" from Cardone. Installed and put everything back together and they work like a dream. Great product!

Advance auto said this is a direct fit for a Pontiac Fiero. It is NOT in fact. The 87-92 firebirds use this motor; which spins the opposite direction to wind the headlight up or down from the Fiero. Had to disassemble and use the coil/wiring from my original motor to make it work correctly...

If based only on looks I'd give this part one star. However, I'm giving it two because it looked so bad I returned it immediately so I have no idea how it would have functioned. It may have worked perfectly. The whole thing was painted flat black to include the wiring which was bundled together with a zip tie. There was even paint inside the electrical connector. I love Advance and am a loyal customer, but they need to find another supplier for these motors.

My original Pontiac headlamp motor lasted almost 14 years. Since the original motor went out I have had to replace it twice more, and now I'm needing to replace it once again.. This is a total piece of trash. If I had any idea it was this poorly constructed I would have bought one from the dealer for more than twice the cost.

Cardone inspects remanufactured products multiple times before they leave the factory, but when I purchased two remanufactured units neither were serviceable out of the box from Advance Auto. One unit had the wrong connector and would not connect to my car. When I went back for a second replacement it was dirty and looked used out of the box. Could be a customer returned a core and got credit for returning a serviceable unit. I finally found two good motors at another Advance store a few miles away. Store personnel need to be sure what they put back on the shelf is as received from the manufacturer. I verifed with another car that the one unit with incorrect keyed connector was not correct for the part number I needed. I thought the keying problem may have been an error such as a cable for a Right Hand unit instead of a Left Hand unit, but the Firebird motors are keyed alike while the designation of RH and LH is maintained by different metal castings configured for RH and LH form and fit and not the electrical cable.

The first one I ordered failed within 30 days. Hopefully this one will last longer. I am thankful that the warranty is limited lifetime or else I would be out significant dollars.

The motor worked fine, but I had to work with it for a while. The same kept working on backwards, I turned the lights on and the right side will go down, turned them off and they will go up. I finally figure out that the motor was wired wrong, so I took the wiring plug apart, switched the wires and problem solved. The quality control of the product should be better.

While my son was home from college over winter break, I found out that the R/H headlight motor on his 2002 Trans Am had failed. I picked-up the remanufactured unit and set about installing it. Once installed, we tested it, and while the headlight went up, the lights did not illuminate. I traced this problem to bad connections in the plug, corrected the problem, and retested. At that point, the the remanufactured unit failed (the back fell off and the drive gear fell out). Avoid these remanufactured units! Even though it supposedly had a "limited lifetime warranty", the lack of reliability and quality control in the reman process renders these units unreliable at best.

Today will make the second time I've replaced the same motor in as many days. Got first replacement motor in and installed it only to find out IT RAN IN REVERSE! Swapped motor in store, and installed second motor today. It ran perfectly for two up/down cycles then NOTHING! MOTOR STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. I don't know where the fatal flaw is, but maybe someone should be taking a little more time to make sure when they rebuild these motors that they work properly. If you have time to spare (which I do not) go ahead and buy it from Advance. If not, pony up the few extra bucks and buy it from somewhere else.
