Hays heavy-duty flexplates for high performance and competition engines are constructed of a thicker than stock steel plate, enabling them to withstand the stress of high-stall torque converters and high-RPM engines. While factory stock plates tend to crack around the crankshaft hub when punished under high torque and RPM conditions, the thicker Hays flexplate handles the force. These H.D. flexplates are supplied with a ring gear that is securely welded in place and feature dual bolt patterns for use with either a Powerglide or Turbo-Hydromatic torque converter. All Hays heavy-duty flexplates are zinc-dichromate plated to resist corrosion and are SFI certified under specification 29.1.

B&M has you covered with our high performance flex plate designed for 1955-1985 400ci small block chevy V8 engines (externally balanced) with two piece rear main seal. Features include high tensile strength steel construction to resist elongation and cracking, dual bolt pattern 10.75 or 11.5-inch converter mounting locations, 168 tooth ring gear with double-sided welds for added strength and comes with SFI 29.1 safety certification insuring the ultimate in safety and performance. The assembly is then Zinc plated and treated with a Chromate Conversion Coating for added corrosion resistance and durability. B&M SFI approved flexplates are ideal for extreme duty race applications as well as street cars, tow vehicles or other vehicles needing the added protection and toughness that B&M has been delivering since 1953. Compatible with Powerglide, TH350, TH400 and TH700R4 automatic transmissions.

Vehicles with automatic transmissions have a flex plate. The flex plates connect the engine and transmission. Most flex plates are made of a thick piece of sheet metal with bolt holes for the torque converter and teeth for the starter. The job of a flex plate is to allow for expansion of the torque converter as engine RPM increases. The constant expansion and contraction of a flex plate over time can result cracks and/or shearing of the flex plate. A damaged flex plate can create serious and expensive damage. Broken flex plates cannot be repaired, they must be replaced. Pioneer Flex Plates are made of high-quality steel and contain the correct bolt hole spacing and ring gear teeth just like the original part to ensure long life and durability.
