Severe loads can be placed on the gear and the fixture can spin up to 10,000 rpm. Features increased outer hardened layer thickness (RC 55-60). Micro polished surface for smooth contact. One of the best, and sometimes missed tuning tricks is not to just optimize your initial timing, but to bring in timing advance more quickly than the stock distributor can allow. Bringing timing more quickly than stock can provide substantial increases in both torque and horsepower depending on your combination.This is done by changing the springs under the cap. This kit includes three sets of springs which can be used in different combinations to provide full advance sooner than stock. Use lighter springs to bring the advance more quickly, and heavier springs to bring it in more slowly. Two new weights with nylon bushings are also included as are instructions to help with installation. Springs are color code as follows: Light Springs – Black Medium Springs – Silver Heavy Springs – Gold

Inside the billet aluminum housing there is a high-output inductive ignition module that lights the spark. This module now has a built-in rev limiter to protect your olds from overrev protection damage. A polished steel shaft spins in the center of this module and is guided by a sealed ball bearing for great stability. Another great benefit of the MSD Ready-to-Run distributor is the mechanical advance. The weights and assembly are fine-blanked from chromoly for absolute precision resulting in smooth timing changes. You can set up a timing curve to match your engine’s specifications easily with the supplied advance springs and bushings plus there is a vacuum advance for economy. The distributor is supplied with the MSD cap, race rotor, wire retainer and gear.

With the introduction of our 20 Amp extreme HEI module, we needed an HEI cap and rotor that could withstand the high output. The answer was to mold our own HEI cap, rotor and coil cover. The cap and rotor will fit our HEI Pro-Billet distributor, PN 8365.
