in order to use the product for a 1964 Falcon V8 you must clock the unit 90 degrees by removing the keying tabs and bending the pickup tube to a full 90 degrees from the mounting plate. Install and check that fuel pickup is at bottom of tank. and that gauge reads correctly. this part is close but but incorrect for this car, can be ,modified to work, if you can return and buy part from supplier that can give you the correct part. Not one that you must rework.
