As performance levels increase, an O.E. style flex plate just won’t cut it and a stronger option is a necessity to prevent transmission and/or converter failure. B&M has you covered with our high-performance flex plate designed for 1963-1982 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury (internally balanced) 289-351ci small block V8 engines with a C4 transmission. Features include high tensile strength steel construction to resist elongation and cracking, a 10.50-inch bolt pattern, and 157 tooth ring gear. B&M flexplates are ideal for hot rods, street cars, tow vehicles, or other vehicles needing the added protection and toughness that B&M has been delivering since 1953.

Vehicles with automatic transmissions have a flex plate. The flex plates connect the engine and transmission. Most flex plates are made of a thick piece of sheet metal with bolt holes for the torque converter and teeth for the starter. The job of a flex plate is to allow for expansion of the torque converter as engine RPM increases. The constant expansion and contraction of a flex plate over time can result cracks and/or shearing of the flex plate. A damaged flex plate can create serious and expensive damage. Broken flex plates cannot be repaired, they must be replaced. Pioneer Flex Plates are made of high-quality steel and contain the correct bolt hole spacing and ring gear teeth just like the original part to ensure long life and durability.

Hays heavy-duty flexplates for high-performance and competition engines are constructed of a thicker than stock steel plate, enabling them to withstand the stress of high-stall torque converters and high-RPM engines. While factory stock plates tend to crack around the crankshaft hub when punished under high torque and RPM conditions, the thicker Hays flexplate handles the force. These H.D. flexplates are supplied with a ring gear that is securely welded in place and feature dual bolt patterns for flexibility in adapting to multiple transmission style torque converters. All Hays heavy-duty flexplates are zinc-dichromate plated to resist corrosion and are SFI certified under specification 29.1.

Hays billet steel flywheels are manufactured from certified billet material that will not break up under the stress of high RPM and severe punishment of racing. Available in weights up to 50 pounds for specialized applications, most Hays flywheels are drilled with both the Borg and Beck and long-style clutch patterns. Hays flywheels are certified under SFI spec 1.1.
