Usually I try to buy GM OEM products but my alternator failed on a Friday after work i I needed to go away for the weekend and didn't have time to order a new alternator online. So I purchased from advanced plus I updated my 150 amp for this 170amp. It works great and has a lifetime warranty. Took me less then an hour to change this out and had been working good all summer. The bad news is that I found out the old alternator was still good but just needed the pulley changed. These new vehicles have a new kind of clutch type pulley that only lasts 100k-150k miles. You will notice noise and low output at idle. Less then $100 compared to over $300 for new alternator. Oh well I got a new 170amp alternator so no biggie.

Bought this alternator for my 2007 Tahoe two years ago (2020). My truck battery died in May of this year and could not be charged so I had to buy a new one. I got one of the best batteries I could get from Batteries Plus for over $300 with a 5 year warranty. Within 5 months, that brand new battery died and could not be charged. I received a warranty replacement from Batteries Plus but they were shocked because they never have issues with the battery I had. Within two months, the new warranty replacement battery ALSO died and could not be charged (bad battery) so I got a warranty replacement again. But now I KNOW something is wrong and has nothing to do with the batteries. I took a volt meter and measured the voltage of the battery and then the voltage with the truck running to see how much the alternator was putting into the system. Battery voltage: 12.3, Running voltage: 15.4 (HOLY S!) That is an over voltage situation and will definitely kill the battery in short order. The alternator is putting in too much voltage (voltage regulator must be shot). The only good thing here is that there is a lifetime warranty on this alternator and I do all the work myself and don't have to pay anyone.

I brought the 1st alternator(online purchase) said it was for my vehicle but turns out it wasn't. Went into the store and exchanged it and got the correct one. Mechanic Put it on and it was a faulty alternator. So now I had to pay him to take it off and put another one one. So a lot of time and money wasted.

I bought this alternator for my 2004 Silverado 2500HD. As soon as I installed it I heard a whining noise from the alternator upon acceleration. This was a NEW alternator and it already had a bad bearing and wasn't charging my battery. Go with original manufacturer. I bought AC delco alternator after.

I bought this delphi alternator for my 2004 Silverado 2500HD. After two months, the alternator bearing went bad and started making a high pitch whining noise upon acceleration. My battery got drained and I couldn't return the alternator because it was past the 45 day return period. I went with AC delco alternator instead.

I'm not sure it's the alternator but I fear after a lengthy removal and install the bearing on this part is going out. It's making a pretty bad noise. I'll update if I determine it's not the alternator. It's still working and it's sub zero temps here so maybe it will settle down.
