The carburetor is a device used to mix air and vaporized fuel for combustion in old school engine applications. The last year for carburetors in motor vehicles used on the road in the U.S. is listed as 1994. The carburetor was typically a down draft style device where oxygen was drawn from the top of the carburetor pulled in by the engine vacuum through a venturi style opening, just above the venturi were jets, or metered openings where fuel was pulled from a bowl of fuel within the carburetor.
