As performance levels increase, an O.E. style flexplate just won’t cut it and a stronger option is a necessity to prevent transmission and/or converter failure. B&M has you covered with our high performance flexplate designed for 1962-up TF727 transmissions and all internally balanced Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth V8 engines with 6-bolt crankshaft flange. Features include high tensile strength steel construction to resist elongation and cracking, dual bolt pattern 10.00 or 11.125 inch converter mounting locations and comes with SFI 29.1 safety certification insuring the ultimate in safety and performance. The assembly is then Zinc plated and treated with a Chromate Conversion Coating for added corrosion resistance and durability. B&M SFI approved flexplates are ideal for extreme duty race applications as well as street cars, tow vehicles or other vehicles needing the added protection and toughness that B&M has been delivering since 1953.

AT FLEX PLATE

Vehicles with automatic transmissions have a flex plate. The flex plates connects the engine and transmission. Most flex plates are made of a thick piece of sheet metal with bolt holes for the torque converter and teeth for the starter. The job of a flex plate is to allow for expansion of the torque converter as engine RPM increases. The constant expansion and contraction of a flex plate over time can result cracks and/or shearing of the flex plate. A damaged flex plate can create serious (expensive) damage. Broken flex plates can not be repaired, they must be replaced. ATP flex plates are made of high quality steel and contain the correct bolt hole spacing and ring gear teeth just like the original part to ensure long life and durability

The ring gear has teeth which engage with the starter motor allowing the engine to crank over and start. Repeated engagement with the starter results in worn or broken ring gear teeth. Once this is diagnosed, the ring gear must be replaced. ATP ring gears are designed to fit and function just like the original part to ensure durability and long life.
